“Don’t let anyone with bad hair tell you shit about life.” – Charles Bukowski
That’s a wrap for Spain. To say I had a great time would be an understatement. Spain is a fun and vibrant country, rich in history, culture, food, and, of course, people. I’ve spent a lot of time in Spain, and it was delightful to revisit Barcelona after a 23-year hiatus. I’ve promised myself that I won’t wait 23 more years until I return.
After so many day trips (Montserrat, Figueres, Girona, and Andorra) around the area, I spent my last few days in Barcelona City Center relaxing, enjoying the beach, and eating some delicious food…like only the Catalans can do.

The sunsets at the beach were stunning. My new friend Diego and I spent an entire Sunday walking along the beach, talking, laughing, picking up seashells, strolling in the water and getting our jeans wet, and watching the sun go down for the day. Honestly, a perfect day on Earth if you ask me.

A woman was feeding the birds, and it got a little wild, but it was a beautiful sight to see.
I ate some delicious tapas at Cerveseria Catalana, a restaurant I would highly recommend if you are in the area. I had fresh oysters, steak, vegetables, wine, and a dessert for €25. You can’t beat it. The pulpo (octopus) looked appetizing as well. I’ll have to try it on my next visit.

Oh! And I got a haircut at a super cute salon – Secretos de Mujer – while I was in town.

As someone who has gone to the same hairdresser (no matter where I have lived) for 20 years, if you’ve never gotten a haircut in a foreign country, I highly recommend it. This is only my second time (I think), the other time was in Bali, and it adds a level of zest that I didn’t know I needed in my life. Of course, I will catch up with my stylist once I am back in Kansas City (I’m a loyal customer), but it was refreshing to have a new ‘do on the road. The wash and head massage was worth its weight in gold. I love to be pampered.

I let her chop off 3-4 inches, and it was still super long.

Enjoy a photo from the bathroom. I’m not one of those fancy influencers who make everything look cute…sorry you’re getting the raw, unedited footage.

Thankfully, not much was happening during these last few days (I needed some downtime), but I want to give a little shout-out to the staff at The Central House, where I stayed for a month! I wasn’t planning on staying that long in a hostel (my plan involved renting an Airbnb), but the staff was so wonderful and the facilities were nice and clean, so I decided to continue my stay. Karyna, Diego, Gillum, and the entire crew made my visit to Barcelona so much fun. They offered wonderful recommendations for restaurants, day trips, and sightseeing excursions. We had hours and hours of interesting conversations and delicious shared meals – a few were even home-cooked family recipes. I cannot thank them enough for their kindness, friendship, and for showing me a fantastic time during my visit.

Adios Barcelona! I’ll be back soon!

Boarding the plane to fly back to the States, we got a little too close for comfort to the engine, in my opinion.
