If you’re enjoying following this journey on the Via Transilvanica, I’d be grateful if you’d like and share this post. And if you’d like to see more photos and videos from the trail, you can find me on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, BlueSky, and Threads or find me on LinkedIn.

Today was gloriously mundane and, most importantly, drama-free!
Great for us. Not so great for the blog. Or you, the reader.
There are no medical emergencies, lost passports, hitchhiking, getting wet in the rain, or other adventures to report. We simply walked. And honestly, it was wonderful.
With every step, I couldn’t help but feel a little excited knowing it was one step closer to accomplishing our goal.
900 kilometers to go.
Sometimes you just put one foot in front of the other and keep moving. Progress. It’s slow but it’s still progress.
We decided to take the road instead of the trail today because it was shorter and less hilly. Since it’s Saturday and we’re in the Transylvanian Saxon region, there wasn’t much traffic.
We’re also right in the middle of Haferland Week, a festival celebrating the local Saxon culture, which means accommodations are extremely limited. We had hoped to walk farther, but once again, the Universe had other plans.
Luckily, we found a wonderful little homestead in Archita at the last minute. Our hosts, Lucian and Alexandria, and their five-year-old daughter, Lucia, are lovely.
There’s also a film crew here documenting their life on the farm; milking cows, mowing fields, and showcasing the property for a documentary about the Via Transilvanica.
Naturally, we started chatting with them, and discovered one of the women, Julia is the girlfriend of a guy (Julian) we met at the Via Transilvanica headquarters about a week ago. Small world out here on the trail.
I texted with a couple of the other hikers we have met and they couldn’t find accommodations so they either hitchhiked or grabbed a taxi and skipped several stages. Doubtful we will see them again.
And that’s about it for today. We are completely boring. And I’m perfectly okay with that.
After all the chaos of this trip, I’m going to take advantage of the quiet, put down the phone, and simply enjoy being here.
Walking. Breathing. Taking in Romania.
Sometimes the best adventure is having absolutely nothing happen. Hooray!
Have a wonderful day or evening, wherever you are in the world. 🧡
Much love & gratitude. Namaste 🙏
