Is anyone else feeling or noticing this heavy energy that seems to be plaguing the world at the moment?
My friends who study astrology & my favorite astrologer, Anne Ortelee tell me it has to do with Scorpio season – a time of darkness, deep dive, and reflection – and the orbit & transits of the planets. As Hermes said, “as above, so below.”
My therapist friend explained that it has to do with many things like, the time change, seasonal depression with the start of Autumn – the death of nature to create a rebirth – or it could be the depressing collective consciousness due to the floundering economy, wars, and political uncertainty. Heck, it could just be the day-to-day difficulties of being a human walking around the Earth. Whatever it is, I’m feeling it and it’s not pleasant. In fact, it’s down right exhausting and filling me with a range of uncomfortable emotions.
Recently, I’ve had a couple of friends email and call me about health diagnoses that weren’t so good. A close friend has some serious money issues. Another good friend has Covid and several of my readers contacted me after I wrote my post about feeling sad to share how they are feeling a little sad and lost as well. I even read on Facebook that friends of a friend lost everything in a house fire. Not to mention the unexpected passing of the funny man who cheered us up with his “pillow talk” reels on Instagram, Leslie Jordan.
As the late Jerry Lee Lewis would say, “goodness, gracious, great balls of fire,” these are doom and gloom times, people. The news broadcast will tell you so.
I know, I’m usually the upbeat, happy go lucky, Pollyanna of the group but whatever is happening on a larger scale, I’m feeling it deep in my soul and I just can’t shake it.
I believe that old saying, “this too shall pass” is true but darn it, going through this heaviness is not the most fun a girl can have. And I like to have fun. I’ve been trying my best to keep a positive attitude and look for the good ole “silver lining” but it’s felt more difficult to find than most days. I’ve been reading inspirational books, watching motivational videos, moving my body by walking in the park and doing yoga, and eating as healthy as I can…plus, practicing gratitude which I’ve read is the quickest way to change any situation, but it’s just not moving the positivity meter. Which brings up so many questions. If our thoughts control our reality, am I choosing this? Can I control my own situation or is there some sort of destiny at play here? Can anyone answer these mind baffling questions?
When things get difficult, I’ll try to look at each frustrating moment or phase of my life from a 10,000 foot distance. I’ll imagine myself above my current reality and try to view it at an emotional distance to make sense of it. I look at it through my own spiritual lens to find some sort of purpose and higher meaning. I need it to make sense. Earth feels like a big one room schoolhouse to me – all different age and education levels packed in together trying to learn and teach at the same time. It’s a wild ride. My reality at the moment is that I’m feeling a little stuck in many areas of life – particularly with this blog…and it’s cold. The weather is getting very cool here in Florence and I’m not a big fan of cold weather.
I started this blog with the idea that I should write about my travels and adventures…but honestly, while I love looking at art, eating delicious food and learning about history, I’m not really inspired to write about what I saw at the Uffizi museum or the latest pasta dish I ate at a local restaurant. Sure that’s fun from time to time but what I really love is to examine and explore the human experience and how we handle it. How are we growing our souls. What is spirituality and how does it relates to our existence here on Earth. How we are connecting, human to human, soul to soul. I like the deep dive into why we here and all that juicy “Scorpio” stuff. You know, the lump in the rug that people love to step over.
My intention was pure when I started this blog. I am a curious traveler but a more accurate statement is that I’m a curious human. I love to learn and share that knowledge & information with others. I have a wide range of interests and opinions about many things other than travel. I was starting to feel a little pigeon holed about only “writing about travel.” I would rather write about my human experience overall no matter what city or country it takes place in. No matter how beautiful or messy it is. (I will never be one of those perfectly put together girls in the sexy dresses and sun hats posing at the latest hot spot.) So while I will include stories and incidents from my current location, I’m going to write more about what lights me up and sets my heart on fire. What I’m passionate about in the moment…and sometimes those moments change fast. I feel deeply and move quickly. I like that about myself.
So in this moment, I’m curious about what all this heavy energy is that seems to be influencing me and so many people I care about? Anyone else out there feeling it?
Goodnight and much love from Italy. 🇮🇹
