“A good life is knowing people care about you, knowing you can take care of the people that count on you, and knowing you’re doing a little something in your community.” Taylor Jenkins Reid
Today, 8.8.23, is the one year anniversary of The Wondering Wanderer LLC. 🥳

I started this company with the intention of sharing stories about my life experiences with our fellow humans (and critters) from around the globe. I wanted to recount the adventures we’ve shared together and showcase just how amazing the world is to visit and how wonderful the people are who roam this planet. I hoped to remind our little online community that there really is more good in the world than negative…and in turn, you fabulous people would share these tales of goodness within your own communities.
I, as I’m sure many of you as well, have noticed how the world feels a bit like it’s falling apart. The images and stories many of us are seeing and hearing on a daily basis are a little depressing. Well, I’m a believer in energy, and that dark, sad energy seems to be spreading pretty quickly these days. So in my own little way, I wanted to spread some light and good vibes with the hope that it just might catch fire. And so the blog was created.
I want to personally thank each of you for sticking with me, supporting me, and following along on this one year wild ride. Several of you have sent me stories about how the words in this blog have changed you for the better. They’ve opened your eyes to new cultures and corners of the world. They have encouraged you to be a better mother/father, neighbor, co-worker, and citizen in your own community, etc. That was exactly my intention and I hope we can continue to connect in a way that is meaningful and brings some light during these dark times. 💛
Thank you,
Emily, The Wondering Wanderer
One quick story of how the universe is lining up at the moment. Ingeborg and I went to a fancy pool club today to swim. Unfortunately, about a half hour after we arrived the skies opened and it poured rain. Everyone moved inside. I noticed a lovely woman sitting at the next table and her dress/swimsuit coverup was inside out. I hate it when people don’t tell me if I have food in my teeth or toilet paper on my shoe. I know it’s uncomfortable to tell someone but I definitely don’t want to walk around for hours like that, so I decided to let her know in a gentle way. I said, “Hello, maybe you intended to do this but if not, your dress is inside out.” She thanked me and this opened the door to one of the most enjoyable conversations with Simone from England and her friend Lynn originally from England but now living in Australia. We ended up talking and swimming all afternoon and into the evening, sharing pictures and phone numbers.
The funny part of all of this was, when they asked the name of my blog and I told them, Lynn got a “deer in the headlights” look on her face and said, “I follow all of your stuff!” I’ve been using your blog to help us plan our trip. ❤️
The blog is working, people! 🙌
